Welcome to the

laws refer to the liability of anyone with a responsibility
for a product -- from the supplier or manufacturer to the
seller -- if that product causes damage due to defect. Product
liability laws include consumer protection from dangerous
products and pharmaceutical negligence. If

HOT TOPICS
Examples of product liabilities involve defective
products such as gas tanks, tire defects, air bag injuries,
toxic chemicals, some environmental pollution as well as
products that do not live up to their respective guarantees or
warranties. A product is legally considered defective if it
was made poorly or sold with flaws. A product may fulfill
its purpose as expected but an injury may occur in normal use.
A product may also be safe if used carefully, but it may be
considered defective if the manufacturer 's information on how
to use it is unclear, incomplete or incorrect. This
misrepresentation concerning the product, if resulting in an
injury, may entitle the plaintiff to damages.
The
following products and dangerous drugs have been identified as
posing potential threats and dangers to

Mesothelioma -
Asbestos
Mesothelioma is generally referred
to as malignant mesothelioma. It is a carcinoma or
cancer of the lining of the lung (pleural mesothelioma) or the
lining of the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma).
Asbestos exposure is the only proven cause of mesothelioma in
North America, and occurrence may be anywhere from 10 to 40 or
more years after the first exposure to
asbestos.
Many workers are being diagnosed with mesothelioma,
lung cancer and asbestosis as a result of being exposed to
asbestos in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and thereafter. These
victims include powerhouse workers, factory workers,
electricians, brake mechanics, shipyard workers, merchant
seaman, plumbers, mechanics, maintenance workers, engineers,
Navy workers and laborers.
Mesothelioma symptoms involve pain - usually in the
back, chest or abdomen, shortness of breath, fatigue and
weight loss. The shortness of breath may be felt to be
sudden. Pleural effusion occurs as cell fluids collect
between the lining of the lung and the chest cavity. Chest
x-rays generally show a haziness on one or both sides of the
chest or a cloudy area may conceal an entire lung from
view.
Most importantly, this deadly disease may be developed
years after an extremely low exposure to asbestos, which
may not even be remembered by the patient when providing
medical history. Exposure may be as simple as living
near a site involved with asbestos products or handling
contaminated clothing or buying a used car contaminated
by an asbestos worker.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma,
lung cancer or asbestosis, you may be entitled to compensation
for these injuries -- even if your loved one has died. Contact

help you recover damages for medical bills, pain and suffering,
lost wages, and other effects of Asbestos exposure.
Welding Rods
Welding is one of the most dangerous
industrial jobs and the hazards go far beyond the
traditional hazards. Dangers of welding include: fire
safety, electric shock, compressed gases, toxic fumes, and
personal protection of the eyes, hands, feet, and body.
Manganese
is a toxin that destroys brain cells and it is a major concern
for welders. Welding rods, electrodes and wire all
contain manganese. During the welding process, the manganese
vaporizes and can be inhaled.
Manganism
is a disease that is linked to welding rod fumes and is
caused by excessive exposure to manganese fumes or dust.
It is associated with liver and kidney disease. Manganism is characterized
by mental difficulties and the impairment of motor skills.
Occupations commonly associated
with such exposure include welders, pipe fitters, electrical
workers, metal workers, pile drivers, glass manufacturers,
plumbers, ironworkers, steelworkers, and railroad maintenance
workers. Persons working in these fields should make
sure that their work environments are well ventilated and
that appropriate personal protection is available.
If you
have a history of prolonged exposure to welding smoke or
fumes and you suffer from neurological problems or Parkinson's
Disease, you may have a claim against the manufacturer,
seller, and/or supplier of welding products.
If you or a loved one has been
exposed to welding rod fumes and has suffered any of the
symptoms of Parkinson's Disease or Manganism,

DANGEROUS DRUGS
Accutane
Accutane, known generically as isotretinoin, is
a prescription medication used to treat severe nodular and
cystic acne that has not responded to other treatments such
as topical creams or antibiotics.
Accutane works on the oil glands within the skin, shrinking
them and diminishing their output. Accutane is taken by mouth
everyday for four to five months and then treatment is stopped.
The anti-acne effect produced by Accutane can last a year
or more after finishing a course of medication.
Despite its lasting positive effect on acne, Accutane has
a number of mild to serious and possibly life-threatening
side effects including: Joint & Muscle Pain, Intestinal
and Urinary Complications, Mild and Sever Depression, and
Birth Defects.
The most damaging side effect of Accutane is serious birth
defects (fetal malformations) if taken during pregnancy. It
is critically important for women not to take Accutane while
pregnant, and not to become pregnant while under treatment.
Accutane can cause these birth defects in the early weeks
after conception when a woman often is unaware of her pregnancy.
Even babies without obvious birth defects may have mental
retardation and learning disabilities.
If you or a loved one suffers from any of the many dangerous
side effects of Accutane usage, contact
Kantrovitz & Associates today (800) 838-6373. We can help you recover damages for medical
bills, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other effects of
Accutane treatment.
Baycol
If you took Baycol and
experienced any adverse reactions you may have a valid legal
claim.
Baycol, a 'statin' drug sold for lowering
cholesterol, was approved by the FDA in 1997. Statins are
powerful anti-cholesterol drugs that save lives by prevention
of heart attacks and strokes. Sales of Baycol (generic name
cerivastatin) were projected to reach $800 million in 2001,
but the German manufacturing company, Bayer A.G., took Baycol
off the market after 31 patients on the drug had died
suspiciously of rhabdomyolysis.
If you have rhabdomyolysis and kidney failure after or during
use of a statin drug, the maker of Baycol, Bayer Corporation,
or another manufacturer of another statin drug may be liable
for compensation. Drug litigation can be complex. If you or a loved one suffers from
any of the many dangerous side effects of Baycol, contact
Kantrovitz & Associates today (800) 838-6373. We can
help you recover damages for medical bills, pain and suffering,
and lost wages.
